Our Story
Some companies have a headquarters. We have a home.
Buckeye Minerals is an Ohio family office — one family’s own capital, invested in the ground we grew up on. This page is the longer answer to the question we get most: “Who are you people, really?”
Roots First
The buckeye puts its roots down first. Then it stays.
We watched the Utica change everything — including how people treated our neighbors.
When the first Utica wells came in, eastern Ohio changed almost overnight. Hotels filled up. Trucks lined the township roads. And the letters started — thousands of them, from buyers nobody had ever heard of, offering fast money for something most families had never had to put a price on: the minerals under their land.
Some of those offers were fair. A lot of them weren’t. We watched people we’d known our whole lives sign away six-figure value for four-figure checks, because the man at the door was friendly, the deadline was tight, and nobody had ever explained to them what a decline curve was or what their royalty clause actually said.
That didn’t sit right with us. So we did something about it the only way a family can: we put our own money where our home is.
What a “family office” actually means
It’s a formal term for a simple thing: a family’s own money, managed by the family itself. No outside investors to satisfy. No fund deadline forcing us to flip what we buy. No committee in a city we’ve never lived in deciding what your land is worth.
When Buckeye Minerals purchases your mineral rights, they go into the same portfolio we’re building for our own children and grandchildren. We collect the royalties patiently, across decades, the way you would have. That patience is our entire edge — and it’s why we can offer fair prices. A flipper has to buy low enough to resell at a markup. We just have to buy fair, because we’re never selling.
Why the buckeye
The Ohio buckeye isn’t the tallest tree in the woods or the fastest growing. What it does is put down roots — deep ones — and stay. It stood for Ohio before there was an Ohio. Folks carry the nut in their pocket for luck, hand them to their grandkids at the fair, and can spot one on the ground from ten feet away.
That’s the kind of company we set out to build. Rooted. Patient. Unmistakably from here.
The best way to know us is to talk to us.
Fifteen minutes, no obligation. Worst case, you’ll hang up knowing more about your minerals than you did before.
